Fabulous 1941 Wilkinson First Pattern F-S Fighting Knife & Scabbard

I always get excited about finding First Patterns like this, for ‘me’ it has everything going for it, especially the wonderful ‘narrow’ ground blade, a personal favorite of mine. A really wonderful, totally honest and complete example of an issued, carried and used c1941 Wilkinson First Pattern F-S complete with its original and correct scabbard. All of these early knives had unique hand-ground blades and I have always appreciated those with a narrow grind and needle-point tip, this example is no exception and in that regard is exceptional, having a lovely long ricasso, narrow ground blade, still full length at 6 1/2” and with an intact perfect needle-point tip, absolutely wonderful…! Both etchings are strong and clear. The blade and knife as a whole, showing some age staining, with a small area of very minor pitting (see pic) and light signs of having been carried and used but remaining in solid, untouched and uncleaned condition. Original and untouched pommel nut. The scabbard is also wonderful, being totally complete with correct snap-fastener and both wings present and intact. Interestingly, the original owner has added a unique field modification of attaching a piece of leather & cord to the frog, I suspect this was to keep the frog in place when the knife was removed from the sheath. This addition has not damaged the scabbard in any way and could easily be removed if desired. Overall, this is a fabulous and important original Wilkinson First Pattern F-S, an example that was clearly issues and carried but remaining is astonishingly fine original condition, being uncleaned, a perfect example of a true Commando Dagger.
